Department General Information
The QFT department is part of the ''Instituto de Estructura de la Materia'', located within the ''Centro de Fisica Miguel Antonio Catalan'' of the CSIC. This department carries out basic research in the following areas:
- Gravitation and Cosmology.
- Condensed Matter Theory.
- Quantum Integrability and Exactly Solvable Models.
- Theoretical Nuclear Physics: Structure and Reactions.
- Theoretical Physical-Chemistry applied to Astrophysics.
Gravitation and Cosmology Group

The main research lines of the Gravitation and Cosmology Group at IEM are
Loop Quantum Gravity and Cosmology (of which the group is pioneer in
Spain), the Canonical Quantization of General Relativity, the
development of computational methods in Gravitational Physics, and the
study of black hole analogs in Condensed Matter Physics.

Condensed Matter Theory Group
The main objectives of the group are the study and understanding of fundamental as well as unconventional properties of strongly correlated and mesoscopic systems, through the develompent of many-body techniques adequate to describe their exotic phases. Our research focuses on some of the most relevant emergent lines in the condensed matter field, like those of cold atom physics and graphene.

Theoretical Nuclear Physics Group

This research group investigates different highly topical subjects in Theoretical Nuclear Physics. This is a work on basic research which faces problems related to nuclear structure, reactions and decay properties of exotic nuclei. The main general goal is to develop theoretical models that could be applied to nuclei far from the valley of stability and to rear nuclear processes.

Theoretical Chemistry Group

The Theoretical Chemistry Group (TCT) develops a line of research whose fundamental aim is the application of high level ab initio methods to the study of the chemistry of the interstellar and circumstellar media and planetary atmospheres, emphasizing the problems of molecular spectroscopy in phase gas.
