The Department of Vibrational Spectroscopy and Multiphotonic Processes is located within the main CSIC Campus on:
121-123 Serrano Street
28006 Madrid
Means of transportation to arrive:
AIRPLANE
The easiest way to arrive at CSIC from Barajas airport is the subway. Line 8 has stops at each of the airport terminals and goes directly to Nuevos Ministerios stop, barely 10 min. walk from the CSIC.
Taxis are also available.
PRIVATE CAR OR TAXI
Access is via Serrano St., block between Jorge Manrique and María de Molina streets. Since Serrano is a one way street going from República Argentina to María de Molina, in order to access CSIC from the opposite direction, it is necessary to use one of its parallel streets such as Velázquez, Vitrubio or Paseo de la Castellana, in order to reach Serrano St. via Jorge Manrique, Pablo Aranda or Plaza de la República Argentina.
BUS LINES
The following bus lines have stops near CSIC:
LÍNEA 16. MONCLOA - AVENIDA DE PÍO XII
LÍNEA 19. PLAZA DE CATALUÑA - PLAZA DE LEGAZPI
LÍNEA 51. PUERTA DEL SOL - PLAZA DEL PERÚ
LÍNEA N1 (nocturna) PLAZA DE LA CIBELES - COLONIA VIRGEN DEL CORTIJO
Serrano is a one way street going from Plaza de la República Argentina to the crossing with María de Molina. This is why bus lines 16, 19, 51 and N1 circulate on Serrano St. only when they are coming form the North (Pío XII, Plaza de Cataluña and Plaza del Perú). For arrivals from the opposite direction (Moncloa, Legazpi and Puerta del Sol), they circulate on Velázquez St., parallel to Serrano. The closest stop to the CSIC is at the crossing between Velázquez and López de Hoyos.
There are other bus lines which have stops in nearby areas such as Plaza de la República Argentina (Circle line) or Paseo de la Castellana (lines 27 and 45, among others).
To obtain more information on exact location of bus stops, schedules, rates and bus lines, please look in the web page of Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid
SUBWAY
The closest subway station to the CSIC is República Argentina (Juan de la Cierva exit).
Subway line 6 (Circle line) has a stop at República Argentina. Another option is Nuevos Ministerios station: lines 6, 8 (Nuevos Ministerios - Barajas Airport) and 10 (Hospital del Norte - Puerta del Sol). Line 10 has direct access to Chamartin station and the city center. If you arrive at Nuevos Ministerios on either one of these two lines, it's not necessary to transfer to line 6 to República Argentina as the CSIC is vey close.
For current information on schedules or rates, look at website of the Madrid subway system.
COMMUTER TRAIN
The Nuevos Ministerios commuter train station is very close to the CSIC. Besides being connected to three subway stations, most of the Madrid commuter train lines make a stop there, specifically, the following:
- C-2 (Guadalajara - Alcalá de Henares - Atocha - Chamartín)
- C-3 (Aranjuez - Atocha - Chamartín)
- C-4 (Parla - Atocha - Chamartín - Alcobendas / Chamartín - Colmenar Viejo)
- C-7a (Alcalá de Henares - Atocha - Chamartín - Príncipe Pío)
- C-7b (Príncipe Pío - Atocha - Chamartín)
- C-8 (Atocha - Chamartín - Villalba - El Escorial / Villalba - Cercedilla)
- C-10 (Villalba - Príncipe Pío - Atocha - Chamartín - Pitis)
The following lines do not stop at Nuevos Ministerios, so you would need to exchange trains in Atocha:
- C-3a (Pinto - San Martín de la Vega)
- C-5 (Móstoles el Soto - Atocha - Fuenlabrada - Humanes)
- C-9 (Cercedilla - Cotos)
Likewise, Nuevos Ministerios station is connected directly with both Atocha and Chamartín stations, from where you can take long distance trains, both regional and high speed.
For any other current information on schedules or rates, please look in Madrid Conmuter Train
TRAIN
The two stations for long distance trains, commuter trains and AVE are Chamartin in the North of town and Atocha, in the South. Depending upon the point of departure, arrival in Madrid will be at one or the other.
They are both interconnected by high frequency commuter trains. From either one of these stations you can reach Nuevos Ministerios Station, barely 10 min walk from CSIC.
There si also a subway line between Chamartin and Nuevos Ministerios (line 10) though not so between Atocha and Nuevos Ministerios.
