Field of research (2009):

-Contribution to R&D with a whole new type of scintillates. Development of different types of detectors and ways of dealing with electronic signals from the sensors. Design of a testbed for testing different combinations of sensors for collecting light.

-Modification and development of software to control various electronic modules.Adaptation of many channels electronic multiplexing for the digitization of signals for light collecting system. Software development for reading multiplex Readout module.

-Use of software for designing the mechanical support of all detectors. Design vacuum chamber with solidworks. Repaiment of electronic modules used in experiments.

-Development and assembly of some practices in the laboratory for Erasmus Mundus Master students in "Science and Nuclear Fusion Engineering Physics” in 2008/09 academic course. Practices development for the PhD course in Nuclear Experimental Physics in 2009/10 academic course.

-Informatic support for the group, including both maintenance and development of local services such as integrating new hardware. Upgrading services to local users, web services and mechanisms for data backup.

-Integration of an algorithm for automatic operation of a system Phoswich digital detectors. We need to test all gamma sources and final test online with high-energy gamma (4-6 MeV) produced in reactions with protons beams in the CMAM accelerator (Madrid).

-Adaptation of a multiplexing system for reading Avalanche Photo Diodes (APD) used to read some signals scintillated Csl (TI) for CALIFA Barrel, in collaboration with Mesytec company.

Current research activities of the group:

R & D on detectors for Experimental Nuclear Physics have followed two lines of work: The first one involves designing and execution of an ultra thin telescope for detection and separation mass of light charged particles. It has an electronic multiplexing that allows to try and parse a VME module 512 telescope channels simultaneously. The system we tested with Na, Si and Mg is accelerated from 2 to 30 MeV in tandem CMAM Laboratory in the University of Madrid. We were able to separate and identify different isotopes and determine the emission angle and energy.

The second line of work framed within the R3B collaboration for future facility FAIR (Facility for Antiprotons and Ion Research) consists on the construction and testing of a gleaming composed of two crystals (Phoswich). Also, simulations have been performed with the behaviour of the same Phoswich composed 3cm LaBr3 (Ce) + 5cm LaCl3 (Ce). The aim has been to separate and identify the pulse of each Phoswich individual crystal, which we have achieved successfully.
